B is for boundaries.

When we live and work within our values, our boundaries are clear, communicated and understood. It is only when these boundaries have been ignored that we feel betrayed, rejected, misunderstood or put upon. So, what is the starting point? I like this article for its in-depth approach to understanding burnout and the value of implementing and understanding our own boundaries. So, start here.

What I have learned (that often gets forgotten) is the fact that we are all people, no matter the level or the role and we make biased decisions based on our own experiences. And as people, all we want is to be seen, heard and feel like we belong. By identifying our own lines, understanding and learning about others’, our abilities to succeed, engage and empower skyrocket.

Your next step from here: Name the values you hold most dearly that inform what boundaries you need in place.
