Procrastination.
Procrastination is about looking at your future and identifying what can go wrong.
Procrastination is not for the lazy. It’s not for underachievers. It’s not for those who don’t care. Procrastination taps into a fear of failure, anxiety about the outcome and uncertainty about how you will be perceived and judged.
Meaning procrastination is a protection method against the uncertainty of the future.
It also means that it can be a flame of excitement for what the future holds.
So if we look at this on a spectrum, fear may be on one end, but excitement will be on other other.
How then can we move away from fear and towards excitement to broach our habitual procrastination?
Ask yourself: what am I worried about? So then, what am I excited about? What could go right?
While we still won’t know what the outcome will be: We could still could fail, we could still be a flop. If we approach that same challenge with excitement (rather than anxiety) - the result will likely be better (And most certainly will feel better).
Remember- whatever you put your attention to grows? Same approach here.
The time and energy we have placed into holding off and distracting ourselves will be far better utilized if we take one step forward. Omit the perfection, enter the excitement of what could be.
Tap into your power of seeing what will go right and watch it grow.
